How much time do you work effectively and how much time do you loose?

It does not matter whether you work from home, you go to the office, your working time is 4, 8 or 12 hours. There is always such a moment every day when your efficiency suddenly drops. Efficient work is possible only for a certain period of time. You recognize this moment pretty easily, your thoughts are not clear anymore, you see that you have to put much more effort in order to concentrate. You do your tasks much slower, you are more willing for any disturbances and you feel like surfing in the internet or chatting with your best friend. Your brain is like a good tomato ketchup.

You know perfectly how you feel when you are too tired for an efficient work. Your body starts to strive for movement, your thought are cruising somewhere between free time, your work and next priority tasks.

Time for a rest.

In order to do efficient work obey your tired body, obey the rules of taking regular breaks. Learn what kind of breaks are most efficient for you? How do you recharge in the best way? Take real breaks, not only for 2 minutes to straight away come back to your desk. More effective is to move a little bit, get fresh air and do something completely different for some time. Go out, make yourself a good coffee, tea or a glass of water. Classical look in the direction of plants, trees outside helps your eyes to regenerate. You may also make a short phone call or listen to your favourite piece of music. These are only examples for a fast and effective regeneration. Try to find your best way to recharge your batteries.

Work after break.

After five to ten minutes you return to your tasks. Put your timer for next twenty or thirty up to fifty minutes dependent on the task you are going to do. Did you know that this technique is called Pomodoro? You divide your work into small time packages of not longer then an hour, best are twenty five minute working time slots. After one such working block you take a break of five minutes. According to the authors of the Pomodoro technique in this manner you may reach great goals in small steps and you keep in balance your concentration and ability for efficient work. This is a good way to be efficient at work.
